Become A Master Gardener
Master Gardeners are adults of all ages who love gardening and who have previous gardening experience. The Master Gardener volunteer program provides a wonderful opportunity for individuals to share knowledge and enthusiasm for gardening with people in their neighborhoods, schools, parks and communities.
As a representative of University Outreach and Extension and the Missouri Botanical Garden, volunteers participate in a wide variety of educational opportunities.
Master Gardener candidates receive about 45 hours of horticultural training on a wide variety of topics. University of Missouri Horticulture faculty, Missouri Botanical Garden staff and Certified Master Gardeners teach classes in the following topics:

Classes usually run from January through May and meet once per week — during the day. Applications for future classes may be found by clicking here.

Each person accepted into the Master Gardener program agrees to give 50 hours of volunteer work in one calendar. A minimum of 10 hours of continuing education is recommended to keep certification active on an annual basis.
