EarthWays Home Gardener

habitat-creating shrubs and trees and other elements of this urban oasis couple ecological planting plans with intensive use of compost and mulch to minimize chemical usage and embody overall low-maintenance practices. Volunteer work at this facility will be primarily hands-on, with training opportunities provided to build skills and knowledge with native plant communities and low-maintenance methods. Hours may vary; shifts are for three hours per week.

Periodic opportunities to assist with outreach programs and events offer volunteers the chance to teach others and raise environmental awareness with adult and youth visitors. Master Gardeners at the EarthWays Home are asked to attend training sessions with interpretive docents, covering subject matter (energy-efficiency, recycling, air quality, and green building) included in EarthWays Home programming and tours; all training time counts toward your 50 hours minimum service requirement.
