Currently, this program is taught to third graders at three of the elementary schools in Kirkwood. The goal of the program is to teach appreciation of the urban forests and educate children in the identification and cultivation of trees.
The Kirkwood Junior Treekeeper program is looking for two volunteers to assist with classes at Robinson Elementary and three volunteers to assist with classes at Tillman Elementary. No previous experience is needed, only an appreciation for trees, and a desire to share it.
