Longview Farm Park

Dedicated volunteers have been renovating, enlarging and enhancing the gardens around the historic Longview home since May 2002. Dedicated volunteers have been renovating, enlarging and enhancing the gardens around the historic Longview home since May 2002.

Since that time, 3,500 volunteer hours were logged and numerous additions have been made to the gardens. We are involved in nearly all aspects of care. We plant annuals in spring and fall, weed, deadhead, divide, while successfully battling poison ivy, Japanese beetles and ticks. If you would like to learn everything there is to know about general garden maintenance, have a say in what plants are selected for the annual beds, and wish to work in the most beautiful 30 acres in West County, this project is for you. We are a knowledgeable bunch consisting of many Master Gardeners, some already working in the hort industry, and others who continue to learn about horticulture by attending classes at Meramec. We meet every Friday morning from late March to early November. If we are tackling a large project, we add other workdays.
The City supplies us with tools, but many members bring their favorites from home. If you'd like to learn about all aspects of gardening, and work with a fun and dedicated group, call Claire Chosid at 314-579-9876
