Carol Gravens became a St. Louis Master Gardener after retiring from a professional career as a microbiologist. As a Master Gardener, she volunteers in many capacities, but her first love is orchids. She maintains her own home collection, as well assisting every Thursday in the Missouri Botanical Garden orchid range, helping tend to about 8500 orchids.
